Compare door-to-door plans

Write down both complete journeys. For rail, include reaching the station, time before departure and travel from the arrival station to the meeting. For a chauffeur, include the actual pickup address, road travel and any planned stops.

Use current rail schedules and an address-based car quote for your dates. A headline station-to-station duration or a generic driving estimate is not enough to decide which plan fits the appointment.

Count the people and equipment

Rail can be straightforward for a traveller with a small bag and meetings near stations. A direct road journey may be practical for colleagues carrying several cases or visiting a destination away from the rail network.

Compare the total price for the party, including onward connections. Check the quoted vehicle capacity and any unusual luggage before making a shared car part of the plan. Do not assume every available seat leaves space for a large case.

Consider the working environment

Think about what you need during travel. Reading and preparation may be manageable in either setting, while a confidential call requires more care. Connectivity, quiet and uninterrupted working time should not be treated as guarantees.

If your itinerary changes repeatedly, compare the conditions for changing each option. A pre-booked car has an agreed route and time; adding stops or extending the day may change the fare and depends on availability.

Choose resilience as well as speed

Identify what you would do if a meeting overruns or travel is disrupted. Check the last useful onward service and who can authorise an alternative. A backup plan should have a decision time, not just a list of possibilities.

For a distant city visit, tell P5 whether you need one-way travel, a separate return or time with a driver. Ask for the full arrangement before choosing between modes.

Plan the next step

Check your journey price

Enter the addresses, date, passengers and luggage to check the price. If your itinerary needs team approval, wait for a confirmed fixed fare before paying. Your confirmation sets out the agreed journey and included charges; changes and extra waiting may cost more.
