Meeting Your Chauffeur for the First Time: What to Expect

A professional chauffeur in a dark suit — Meeting Your Chauffeur for the First Time: What to Expect — P5 Chauffeurs journal

If you've never used a chauffeur service before, the moment of actually finding your car can feel like the biggest unknown — will there be a sign, will the driver know it's you, what if you're in the wrong spot. It's simpler than it sounds, and it's built to be simple on purpose.

For airport and station pickups, your driver waits in the arrivals area holding a name board — either your name or your company name, whichever you've told us at booking. For street pickups, home collections, or hotel departures, the driver waits kerbside near the agreed door, in the car you've been told to expect.

Before You Even Land

We track flight and train times, so if your flight is delayed the driver adjusts and waits rather than showing up at the original scheduled time and leaving. You don't need to message us mid-journey to update a pickup time for a tracked flight — that part is handled.

Confirming It's the Right Car

You'll have the driver's name and a description of the vehicle — model and colour — sent ahead of the journey, along with a contact number in case you can't immediately spot each other in a busy arrivals hall or a crowded street. Drivers are in business dress, not a uniform that shouts for attention, and the car itself is unbranded — no roof sign, no livery — which matters if you'd rather not be conspicuous.

Once You're In

The driver confirms the destination with you before setting off, handles luggage without being asked, and won't chat unless you want to — some passengers want a quiet ride to catch up on emails, others want conversation, and the driver reads that rather than defaulting to one or the other. Fixed-price airport transfers typically run £45-£90 depending on the airport and time of day. Call 020 8129 4999 to book and we'll confirm exactly how your driver will meet you.

Questions, answered.

What if I can't find my driver at the airport?

You'll have the driver's mobile number in your booking confirmation, and they'll have yours — call or text and you'll be talking directly to the person holding the board.

Do I need to specify a meeting point in advance?

For airports we use the standard arrivals meeting point for that terminal. For anywhere else, tell us the exact door or spot when you book and we'll confirm it back to you.

Will the driver help with heavy luggage or a pram?

Yes, that's standard — the driver loads and unloads for you. Let us know in advance if you've got an unusually large amount of luggage, sports equipment, or anything bulky so we send the right vehicle.
